Growing up it seemed like we always had a dog.  So how did I come to own three cats?  Let me tell you the story.

My wife, Lisa, had a cat named Fuzzy.  As a kid, she and her family had found and rescued this cat.  It was a part of her family.

When we moved in together, Lisa had already left Fuzzy living at home with her mom and dad.

I came home one day to find Lisa in tears.

“Fuzzy died.”

She was heartbroken.

Begrudgingly, I asked Lisa if she’d like to go to the Humane Society to look for a new friend.  Before we had a chance, my buddy Scott told me his friend Kim was getting rid of her cat because she was moving, so to save a few bucks we welcomed Jovi into our home.

Of course, no sooner did we get Jovi in the house she ran and hid and we did not see her for two days.

Thinking Jovi was not going to be a cooperative member of our family, we decided to head out to the Humane Society for a different cat.  We thought once she reemerged, we would take her out and drop her off.

At the Humane Society we found a slew of adorable kittens.  My wife couldn’t decide.  What’s worse, they were running their better-with-a-buddy program, meaning we could get two cats for the price of one!

Finding the last two kittens in one kennel, my wife was insistent that one would be lonely without the other, so we’d better take them both!  Doh!  No good deed goes unpunished!

The icing on the cake… we get home with our two new cats and suddenly Jovi decides she wants to suddenly warm up to us!  Voila… we now own three cats!

So now my life consists of cleaning up litter boxes and hairballs.
