21 Savage Sued by Promoter for $1 Million for Saying He Skipped Show

A promoter who accused 21 Savage of bailing on a gig back in 2016 is suing the rapper again for $1 million.

According to a report TMZ published Friday (March 8), Sadaetirs Kent Smith has filed a new lawsuit against 21. In the suit, Smith claims the rapper skipped on performing a show back in September 2016 and never returned the $16,500 fee that he was paid prior to his performance.

If you recall, the Atlanta District Attorney's Office threw out the promoter’s initial felony theft case against 21 on March 1. At the time, the D.A.'s office said that the case should be treated as a civil matter. In the promoter’s previous lawsuit, Smith claimed that 21 took the money without fulfilling his obligations to perform. The promoter went to the police in October 2016 to get a felony warrant on 21 for theft by deception.

In this new civil lawsuit, Smith is seeking $1 million in damages, which includes breach of contract and life dealing with the emotional stress they've endured since the incident.

21 Savage's attorney, Abbi Taylor, says this new lawsuit is essentially proof that this issue was never a criminal matter. "I would just say that this proves it is a civil matter and [it] will be handled accordingly," Taylor tells XXL.

21 is currently fighting his other legal battle with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The 26-year-old artist, born She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is fighting to stay in this country following his arrest in February for being an illegal immigrant.
