Midwesterners are known to be friendly and hardworking. Here in the Heartland, we love to get the community and families together to share stories and bond, and there's almost always food involved. This means our cuisine is filled with dishes that are meant to be shared, like casseroles and shareable appetizers.

Tater Tot Casserole
Tater tot casserole originated in the Upper Midwest in Minnesota and has been a regional favorite ever since. Who doesn't love this classic dish? I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
Turkey And Dressing Sandwiches
Okay, Dubuquers, it's our time to shine! Did you know turkey and dressing sandwiches are a Dubuque thing? I was shocked a few years back when talking with a friend from out of town. I mentioned that a turkey and dressing sandwich sounded amazing at that moment, and she had NO CLUE what I was talking about. I was baffled! Turns out this dish gained popularity in our area in 1973 after Cremers introduced its version for Sacred Heart's festival. While they didn't invent the recipe, they sure created the hype for it all that has remained after all these years!
We call this a salad, but let's be honest, it's more of a dessert than anything else. This sweet and fluffy dish originated in Iowa and has become a staple dish for potluck-style gatherings. I know it's definitely my go-to dish! I absolutely LOVE snicker salad. I might actually go make a bowl of it right now...
