50 Cent Loves Playing the Bad Guy in New Movie ‘Den of Thieves’
Throughout his career, 50 Cent has portrayed the role of the bad guy in the entertainment world, whether it be his television and movie roles, or just in hip-hop culture in general. The Power mogul, who stars in the upcoming film, Den of Thieves, stops by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 with the rest of the cast to discuss his bank robber role in the flick.
During the conversation, the Get Rich or Die Tryin' rapper is asked whether he enjoys playing a cop, like in Freelancers with Robert De Niro in 2012, or if he enjoys playing a villain-like character, similar to his character in Den of Thieves, which hits theaters Jan. 19.
"I like the bad guy," Fif admits of taking on the role for the new movie. "I read the script six years ago. I don't mind being typecasted. I'm a rapper [laughs]. I don't mind. My check's the same. Gerard's is a little bigger [laughs]."
Also during the interview, actor Gerard Butler shares why he decided to work with 50 on the bank robber film, which is a bit out of his typical element in Hollywood. Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson, also discusses coming back to the big screen, as this is his first role in a major blockbuster film since playing his father in Straight Outta Compton.
Towards the end of the conversation, Fif addresses his recent Instagram post, where he calls Diddy the leader of those who are "gay and happy," which follows in the footsteps of the rapper's previous posts that label the Bad Boy CEO "fruity."
"I don't call him gay," the rapper explained. "Listen, I'm only saying that because of the what's his name interview. When he says things, he doesn't even know what he's saying is like, fruity. He says to Fabolous, 'Me and you, we need to party.' What is you talking about? When people say that to me I get a little uncomfortable."
This is far from the first time that 50 Cent has called Puff "fruity," and he even continues to reveal personal experiences with the rap mogul that made him question his mannerisms in the past.
"He said something to me a long time ago at Chris Lighty's wedding," 50 shared. "He told me he'd take me shopping. I looked at him like, 'What'd you just say? Let me move, man, before I do something. You gon' make me mess up the wedding.' No...That's something a guy says to a girl."
