Brock Purdy and His Wife Welcome Their First Child

It's been a pretty incredible summer for Brock Purdy. His San Francisco 49ers might've had a rough 2024 campaign, but his talent and capabilities couldn't be denied by the organization. This summer, Purdy signed a five-year, $265 million contract (with $181 million in guaranteed money). Not bad for the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft with a snowball's chance of being the team's starting quarterback.

Now, Purdy and his wife, Jenna, have welcomed their first child, per an announcement on Brock and Jenna's Instagram.

On social media, Brock and Jenna announced the arrival of Millie Joleen Purdy, their first child, a beautiful baby girl.

"Life just became a whole lot sweeter," Jenna wrote on Instagram, a perfect, pithy summation of the introduction of their newborn child into the world. Meanwhile, per NBC Sports Bay Area, Brock was excused from the 49ers practice on Friday for "personal reasons." He returned to practice on Sunday and was congratulated by his teammates and coaches.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't want to spoil the surprise to the media before the Purdy family made the announcement themselves:

Yeah, Brock had some family stuff [on Saturday]. All good news. I'm sure he'll tell you guys when he talks to you guys next. But, yeah, Brock was back and didn't miss a beat, and it was a good day off for him - San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, per NBC Sports Bay Area

Purdy has been a revelation for the 49ers. The final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy got his chance to be the team's starting quarterback during his rookie season after injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance. Since then, the Niners have appeared in a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship Game. In 2023, Purdy placed fourth in NFL MVP voting.
