Texas Man Arrested, Charged with Stalking Caitlin Clark
A Texas man was arrested on a felony stalking charge in Indianapolis earlier this week after he allegedly sent several threats and sexually explicit/violent messages to former Iowa Hawkeye/current Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
This was all revealed via court documents and police records that show Michael Lewis of Denton, TX was charged with a Level 5 felony after he was arrested at a hotel in Indianapolis. If convicted, Lewis could receive up to six years in prison coupled with a $10,000 fine.
Per ESPN, a few of the alleged messages were revealed in court, and let's just say, they are truly disturbing. Lewis allegedly sent these messages to Clark on Twitter/X from December 16th - January 2nd. Here are some of them:
"Been driving around your house 3x a day. But don't call the law just yet, the publc is allowed to drive by gainbridge..aka Caitlin's Fieldhouse."
"I'm getting tickets. I'm sitting behind the bench"
"They said I was sending threatening texts..but the only though on my mind was....CAITLIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNN" - alleged texts Michael Lewis sent to Caitlin Clark, per ESPN
Other messages were apparently sexually violent towards Clark.
The 22-year-old Clark told police that she feared for her safety, even before Lewis arrived in Indianapolis, and went as far as to alter her appearance in public. She never responded to a single message from Lewis.
Mario County Prosecutors stated that the posts "actually caused Caitlin Clark to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, or threatened [....] with the intent to place Caitlin Clark in reasonable fear of sexual battery."
The IP addresses of Lewis' most recent messages were traced to a hotel in downtown Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Public Library. During a welfare check on Lewis, he told officers he was in "an imaginary relationship" with Clark. Despite the warning from police, the messages to Clark continued.

Prosecutors moved to ban Lewis from both Hinkle Fieldhouse and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, as the Indiana Fever play at both arenas.
Just last month, a 40-year-old man from Oregon received a one-year suspended sentence plus three years probation after pleading guilty to stalking UConn basketball star Paige Bueckers.
Recently, Caitlin Clark was named Time Magazine's Athlete of the Year, becoming the first WNBA player to receive the award and only the second female athlete alongside Simone Biles.
Since becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark has led the Indiana Fever to their first playoff berth since 2016, taken the league's single-season assist record, and obtained both All-Star and Rookie of the Year honors.
