Carrie Underwood Was Worried Facial Stitches Would Change Her Sound on New Album
In a new interview with Vulture, country star Carrie Underwood opens up about struggles recording her latest album Cry Pretty. Underwood received more than 40 stitches on her face and inside her mouth after a bad fall in 2017.
"'Do I sound the same? Is my diction the same? Does my mouth move the same as it did before?'" Underwood says, recounting the worries she had about heading into the studio to record her sixth studio album. "I had wanted to be in the studio sooner than I was...but I had stitches inside my mouth, outside my mouth. It was physically impossible," the hitmaker reveals about the album's delayed recording.
Underwood's accident wasn't the only personal struggle she faced leading up to the project. This past September the singer revealed she suffered three miscarriages over the previous two years. Underwood and husband Mike Fisher are currently expecting their second child.
