This is going to be a super-cool night for fans of popular astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson and his perspective on the world, or just those who want to catch a glimpse of the man, myth, and legend in person!

KCCI says Tyson will appear Tuesday, April 5 at the Des Moines Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. The show is called "The Cosmic Perspective" and tickets are on sale now. Tyson's presentation will explore the concept, according to the Des Moines Civic Center website, that "there is no view of the world as emotionally potent as the one granted by a cosmic perspective. It sees Earth as a planet in a vast empty universe. It profoundly influences what we think and feels about science, culture, politics, and life itself."

Tyson is the fifth head, since 1935, of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City, and the first Frederick P. Rose directorship occupant. He is a bestselling author who has become somewhat of a celebrity and mythological figure offering his takes on science, life, and the world in various documentaries and starring, usually as himself on shows and films like "The Big Bang Theory", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and more.

He stated another aspect he hopes to leave his attendees with at the end of the presentation:

I would expect people to treat each other more kindly. To be more concerned about the plight of earth. No one is coming outside of Earth to save us from ourselves. We are kind of in this alone.
