Country music fans and enthusiasts will immediately recognize Marty Stuart as one of the most exuberant and stylish singers of his era. His pompadour hairstyle and extravagant suits are as instantly recognizable as his songs. His career spans five decades, and even Johnny Cash is part of his formative years:

Marty Stuart knows a thing or two about standing the test of time. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mississippi, he landed his first big gig in Lester Flatts’ band at 13-years-old, and, by 21, he was working on the road and in the studio with Johnny Cash. Though Stuart built his early reputation backing up country and bluegrass royalty, it wasn’t long before Nashville recognized him as a star in his own right. Over the course of Stuart’s 40-plus years as a country and bluegrass solo artist, he has released more than 20 major label albums and scored platinum sales, hit singles, and just about every honor the industry could bestow along the way. - per a press release from University of Dubuque Heritage Center

Stuart's music combines the sounds of country, rockabilly, and honky-tonk for a style that has stood the test of time. He's considered one of country music's most historically minded "new" traditionalists, with Rolling Stone even calling him "one of the world's foremost country experts and archivists."

Stuart is also hot off the release of his new album Altitude, recorded with his longtime band, the Fabulous Superlatives. It is describes as "showcasing the work of a searcher with an insatiable appetite for growth and reflection, on whose ambition, much like his keen wit and rich imagination, only seems to grow with each and every release, per the University of Dubuque Heritage Center's press release.
