I have always thought that our extinct friends of the past, were ripe fodder for video games. It just always seemed that no developers would ever green light projects like that. The Jurassic Park/World series has done very well in cinema and when it comes to the video game world who could forget fighting the t-rex in the original Tomb Raider...

Even the highly rated "Dino Crisis" series hasn't seen a 'next-gen' release. At least it hasn't yet (Get on it Capcom).

And the reason I say yet, is because they may have to dig it out to start competing, as I have seen some very promising trailers and gameplay footage of not 1, but 3 brand new next-gen dino-centric video games coming our way that all look spectacular.

3) Deathground

This game is actually a kickstarter that you could get involved with. Want your name in the game credits? Can do. Got the cash to go big? You could even be a playable character or design your own T-Rex.

The game looks great and is a squad based survival action/horror take on an environment overrun with Dinosaurs of the toothy variety. At its base, Deathground is a solo and co-op survival horror game that throws players into a desperate battle for survival against deadly AI dinosaurs. We're looking for this one to drop sometime in September for early access and beta across PCs. Check out the trailer below...

2) Instinction

This game looks breath-takingly beautiful when it comes to digital imagery. Currently in Development by Hashbane Interactive. All footage I've seen was captured in Unreal Engine 4.26 without ray-tracing enabled. Planned release on PC, and last and next-gen consoles.

Instinction is a prehistoric action-adventure game, with combat and exploration in multiple awe inspiring natural locations. Traverse, discover, solve puzzles and complete missions filled with deadly obstacles and extinct creatures.

And for fans of a female protagonist this game features April Summers, a driven and formidable adventurer deeply affected by personal demons and fears; not to mention being on the menu of sabretooth tigers, t-rex's, and a mosasaurs.  Check out the official trailer below...

1) The Lost Wild

Might want to watch out for the copyright on this one, The Lost Wild. Seriously, this game looks like you have to survive through the Jurassic Park Series.

Dinosaurs will most likely be "un-killable." Meaning, they will serve as a deterrent and something to run and/or hide from as you progress through the story. Sort of like Alien: Isolation, only in this case the alien is actually a group of raptors. Fun stuff.

The game developers state, "The Lost Wild is a survival horror adventure game about overcoming nature’s most formidable forms of life. Using systemic AI to support our core gameplay loops, our dinosaurs react and behave like animals, not monsters. Explore an overgrown Japanese research facility nestled in a lush wilderness. Scavenge locations and find valuable items. Combine what you find to create makeshift contraptions to give you a fighting chance. Be resourceful, endure, intimidate, and outwit to find a means of escape." This one unfortunately still has some work to be done but it looks promising, expect a production cycle of between two and three years and a launch somewhere around late 2024/early 2025. In the meantime check out the stream trailer below...

I really hope these titles do well. The fandom deserves it and we have the graphical capabilities to make it as memorable as the first roar from Jurassic Park back in 1993.
