Director Wanted to Cast Lil Peep in Movie Before Rapper’s Death

At the time of his tragic death, Lil Peep had just begun to scratch the surface of his potential as he continued building a massive fan base. It turns out, that Peep might have also ended up in the world of movies, too.

At the official premiere for Everybody’s Everything, which is a Peep documentary that debuted at the SXSW festival this past weekend, the film's co-director, Sebastian Jones, told Variety that he'd actually planned on putting Peep in a then-upcoming movie.

In the report, which was published Sunday (March 10), Jones said that he met Peep, "three days before he passed"  and added that he was "enamored by" the rapper. "I was at one of his shows, and I was so taken by him...I wanted to cast him in a movie," Jones said.

In Everybody’s Everything, the story of Peep's life and career is told through interviews with his music peers, management, childhood friends and close relatives. The documentary presents an all-around view of a talented young man that had so much potential.

Ramez Silyan, a co-director on the Terrence Malick-produced documentary, said that Peep, born Gustav Ahr, "wanted to be an actor and he had ‘it.'" “He just had this thing...he wanted to do all sorts of things,” Silyan said of the rapper, whose Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 2 album dropped last fall.

Lil Peep, who delivered an emo-leaning brand of hip-hop, was found dead on his tour bus before he took the stage for a Tucson, Ariz. show on Nov. 15, 2017. He was only 21. According to a coroner's report, the rapper's cause of death was determined to be the "combined toxic effects of fentanyl and alprazolam."
