Yes, Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme will return for his first solo sequel. As announced at San Diego Comic-Con by Marvel’s Kevin Feige, In 2021, get ready for... Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Scott Derrickson, who directed the first Doctor Strange will return to direct the sequel; and, yes, obviously, Benedict Cumberbatch is back as well, following his two appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Derrickson promised fans at Comic-Con that he would make “the first scary MCU film.” Good luck with that Scott! We hope you make it happen.

Intriguingly Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will co-star another Avenger: Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, who is getting her own Disney+ series, WandaVision. According to the Comic-Con panel, the events of that show, which premieres a few months before this movie, will directly affect the character and her role in the film. Marvel teased a multiverse in Spider-Man: Far From Home; this movie’s title suggest things are about to get Marvel Cinematic Multiversal in a big way. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens on May 7, 2021.
