Football is continuing to redefine its apex in popularity in America. In the last few years, we've seen several upstart football leagues like the Alliance of American Football birthed and the XFL start/restart before merging into the United Football League (UFL) as of this year.

This year, even Waterloo got their own football team, the Iowa Woo, one of four in the newly formed Arena League. Finally, at last, Dubuque is getting a football team of its own, and as of last week, the newly formed squad is now part of an official league headquartered in Pennsylvania.

The team is the Dubuque Miners, an adult semi-pro football team that has just announced it will join the Heartland Football Association (HFA) for its inaugural 2025 season. The Miners are set to play their home games at Clarke University's Historic Dalzell Field.

The Miners made their new league-announcement via press release on their website, and have been actively preparing their organization to begin play. They've been assembling a front office, a coaching staff, securing sponsors, and completing their first round of player tryouts.

The Dubuque Miners Football Team was established to provide the community with high quality sports entertainment and to provide Athletes the opportunity to participate and compete at a Professional level.

We are dedicated to the advancement of the sport of football by way of volunteering on all levels ranging from youth programs, high-school, collegiate, and adult age programs in our community.

Through organized athletics we create a group of like minded individuals coming together for a common goal while also bringing together the local community to create, build, and support one another. - per the Dubuque Miners' official website
