Are you a part of this fun?  I have to admit that before this year I had only heard of Elf on the Shelf.  Now that our son Jacob is 3 and a half we've started what we hope will be an annual tradition in our home.

So the story goes that The Elf on the Shelf story was created back in 2004 by a woman named Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell, who thought it would be cool to write a story about their families holiday tradition of a toy elf that was sent by Santa from the North Pole to watch over the kids.  It's obviously gone over like gangbusters, as it seems there are hundreds of pictures of elves getting into mischief around homes all over America!  Each morning our son gets a big smile as we come down the steps, knowing he's about to see what kind of craziness "Artie" has gotten into.  Jacob's behavior is also kept in check as we remind him that Artie will be reporting back to Santa... "so behave!"  If you have kids, I really recommend you pick up the book and have some fun creating memories with your kids.  (We found Artie at Target.)

If you're already participating in this craze, don't forget to visit the Y105 Facebook page before Monday and post a picture of your elf, as we're giving away a prize pack to one lucky Mom or Dad from Capri College at 395 Main Street in Downtown Dubuque.

Again, happy holidays to you and yours.
