We've probably all encountered cancer at some point in our lives, whether it be our own personal battle or someone we love.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but I think of it all the time as I constantly see the pink ribbons reminding us of the constant fight against the disease.

Brandon Hogan is the owner of Bar Raising Fitness. According to their website:

Bar Raising Fitness started in 2018 in a 1 car garage. It began with Brandon training friends and family, while doing freelance training at different facilities. The goal was to someday open up a training facility different from your typical "big box" gym - one to cater to those looking for elite level training.

Today, Bar Raising Fitness has two state of the art facilities, located in Dubuque and Dyersville, Iowa and has online programs utilized all over the world. Athletes and individuals have access to the best coaching, programs, equipment, and community, which will take their abilities to the next level.

Brandon told us his crew is planning to host their inaugural "Pink Run N' Rally" on Saturday, October 23rd. I was curious as to why this cause hit so close to home for him and Brandon mentioned that two of their staff members had mothers who were battling breast cancer.

The event will include a 5K Walk/Run that starts at 11:30am. There will be live music by Dallas Jacobus from 1 to 3pm and food trucks like Buenie Bottoms and Dinger's D'Lites on site. They'll also have activities for the kids... it should be a fun day for everyone.

Proceeds will benefit the Pink Hummingbird Project, a non-profit breast cancer foundation that puts care packages together for patients going through treatments.

Brandon mentioned the day of the event is also bye week for the Iowa Hawkeyes, so you have no excuse to not come take part!

If you're interested in signing up for the 5K Walk/Run or would like to make a donation, you can get full details on their FACEBOOK PAGE or WEBSITE.

I hope you consider helping out with this worthwhile cause.
