The way some Iowans are showing their support is with their spirits; literally. Governor Kim Reynolds ordered one Iowa wholesaler to stop selling Russian made liquor, according to the Des Moines Register. She joins a growing number of other states and governors to put this restriction into place.

Some businesses are also joining in on this. In an effort to show solidarity with the Ukraine, you might also notice Russian Vodka off of Hy-Vee shelves.

Multiple people on social media are sharing stories of this happening at their local Hy-Vees. Locations all across the Midwest are removing any Russian Vodka from their shelves.

While Hy-Vee has not made an official public statement about the situation in Europe;  their actions are speaking louder than words.

On some shelves in these Hy-Vee stores, there are labels that read,

"In light of the current situation we have elected not to sell Russian vodka."

While this has mostly gotten a positive reaction from custumers, a few have raised some critiques about the initiative.

We will continue to keep you up to date with the latest happenings in the Ukraine, and how these events are affecting Iowa. Make sure you're following the station on social media.
