Maybe I'm starting to sound like an old man again.  With the beautiful weather, we stopped up at Beecher Beverage on Asbury Road and guess what I found?

A pop machine that only cost 60 cents!

It seems like nowadays the standard is around a buck.  Some places go a buck and a quarter to a buck and a half.

I hate to say it, but on some ridiculous machines I've seen pops going for two to three bucks!

Here comes my old man moment...

I remember being a kid and putting fifty cents into a machine for a cold can of pop.  There were no plastic bottles!  It was cans!

I had a paper route along University Avenue and my route would end at the old Midcontinent Bottlers.  (They left the location in 1993.)  I used to drop in at the end of a hot day and get a can for a quarter!  That's right, two-bits!

I know it's Beecher Beverage, so it probably makes sense they fill their own machine, hence keeping the price down... but it was still a surprise to me!

Anyhoo... that's my old man rant.  What's the most expensive machine you've encountered?  Do you know of any machines that are cheaper... and where are they?

Drop me a line below, even if it's only to have a rant of your own!
