The Corridor’s First Ever Cat Lounge is Now Open [PHOTOS]

Back in January, we told you about a cool new lounge coming to Iowa City called Kitty Corner Social Club. We're happy to report that it has finally opened its doors!

Located at 20 South Clinton Street in Iowa City, Kitty Corner Social Club officially began welcoming customers on February 20th. It is the first cat lounge to arrive here in the Corridor, and if you're not familiar with the concept, here's what Kitty Corner's website says:

"A cat lounge is a cozy, welcoming space where humans can relax, hang out, and spend quality time with adoptable cats in a stress-free environment. Our lounge provides the purr-fect opportunity for visitors to unwind, de-stress, and connect with some furry friends — all while supporting animal rescue and adoption in support of the Iowa City Animal Care And Adoption Center."

If you want to visit Kitty Corner, all you have to do is pay a small fee for a timed session. It's $11 for 15 minutes is $11, $15 for 30 minutes, or $22 for a full hour. Kids are more than welcome to visit during family-friendly sessions and private events, but they need an adult with them if they are under the age of 12. In addition, anyone under 18 will be required to have a parent/legal guardian sign a waiver on their behalf. Oh, and don't forget your socks or slippers! Kitty Corner a shoe-free zone.

There are anywhere from 6 to 10 cats in Kitty Corner's lounge at all times, and most of them are up for adoption. In fact, they've already had several successful adoptions since their opening! The first one was back on February 26th, when Bronny found his new family:

Kitty Corner Social Club allows both walk-ins and online reservations, but reservations are recommended, because there is a limit on how many people can be in the lounge at one time. Reservations can be made online HERE. Kitty Corner is also available to book for private parties, and they will host special events, like cat yoga and trivia night.
