Sexual Assault Reported During Frat Party At University Of Chicago
The assault allegedly happened over the weekend.
Police are investigating a woman's report that she was sexually assaulted early Sunday morning at a frat house near the University of Chicago campus.
According to NBC Chicago, the woman made the report around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. She said she was assaulted at a frat house in the 5600 block of South University Avenue. Police have not said if the house is affiliated with a fraternity but the student-ran newspaper, the Chicago Maroon, found it to be the Lambda chapter of the fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi).

Students at University of Chicago learned about the assault via a text sent out on Sunday afternoon.
The Maroon said the woman, who wasn't affiliated with the University, was at a party at the AEPi house. The party started at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and the alleged assault happened at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning. Somebody did intervene in the situation, and an unidentified man fled the scene. The victim went to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect was described by witnesses as being a "a 5' 7" South Asian male with a dark complexion, short hair on the sides and longer curly hair on top, wearing a black T-shirt, black jogging pants, and white shoes", as it was put in the campus safety alert.
AEPi's headquarters say they found out about the incident on Sunday afternoon and have been working with the chapter's leadership, working with law enforcement. The chapter has been instructed not to host any events until the investigation is complete.
