J. Cole Uses SWAT Team Footage for Official “Neighbors” Video
A couple weeks ago, J. Cole's HBO documentary 4 Your Eyez Only aired on TV. In it, Cole showed footage of the SWAT team raid on his North Carolina studio The Sheltuh. Now he's incorporated that same footage for the official "Neighbors" video. Watch it below.
"Neighbors" is from his latest album, which shares the same name as the HBO doc, and it finds Cole reflecting on why the raid took place. The video only features a majority of the first verse, cutting off before he says, "Welcome to the Sheltuh, this is pure / We'll help you if you've felt too insecure / To be the star you always knew you were / Wait, I think police is at the door."
The documentary is a fascinating watch, as Cole plays the background while the film focuses on everyday people struggling with oppression and racism. If you haven't seen it yet, read our recap right here to get a sense of whether or not you should check it out.
Cole has actually made the documentary available to view on YouTube. Watch that below as well.
