Former Marquette Basketball Star Arrested After Police Chase
A former star player for Marquette, who just heard his name called in the 2025 NBA Draft back in June, was arrested in a police chase on October 20th.
Kam Jones, now a rookie with the Indiana Pacers, apologized before the media this week following his arrest on preliminary charges of reckless driving and resisting law enforcement in Indianapolis, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

What Happened to Kam Jones?:
Per a probable cause affidavit filed by an Indiana State Trooper, Jones was clocked going 90 mph in his black Cadillac, which was 40 over the posted speed limit, on Interstate 70. He was driving aggressively, changing lanes without signaling and tailing other vehicles. The trooper activated his lights and siren and Jones did not immediately pull over. He pursued Jones for about four miles until the former Golden Eagle pulled over on an exit ramp.
Jones was then taken into custody and charged with reckless driving and resisting law enforcement.
Jones Publicly Apologized for His Actions:
Prior to Jones speaking to the Pacers media on October 21st, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle commented on his player's arrest:
My feeling is that this is going to turn out to be a speeding ticket and not much more. Kid thought he was going to be late to practice, so he was going too fast. Not going to get into it much more than that. He insisted on apologizing to the team today and I just want to let him say a few words to you guys right now - Rick Carlisle, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Jones, who is 23-years-old, then came to the microphones and apologized to the Pacers organization and fans as well. He called the entire experience "pretty traumatic" and said he had never been through anything like this. He admitted to making a "mistake" and promised nothing like this would occur again.

Carlisle also credited Jones with being "contrite" about the situation, and remarked about his response to the incident showed "exemplary character" that recalled his time at Marquette.
As a junior, Jones averaged 17.2 points, 2.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, helping lift Marquette all the way to the Sweet 16. The following year, he averaged 19.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds. During the 2025 NBA Draft, Jones was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, then traded to the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers are looking to capitalize on their unexpected NBA Finals run from last season, albeit without their star player, Tyrese Haliburton, who tore his Achilles in Game 7 of the Finals.
