Kanye West Receives Open Letter From Mother’s Surgeon

Kanye West made an eyebrow-raising revelation over the weekend when he announced the album cover of his upcoming LP on Twitter. He noted that he wants the cover to feature a photo of Dr. Jan Adams, the man who performed surgery on his late mother Donda West right before she passed away from heart complications. Apparently after hearing 'Ye's idea, Adams decided to pen the rapper an open letter declining the offer, discussing the artist's recent tweets and mother's final hours.

As previously reported, Kanye's plans were revealed via a screenshot of a text conversation where he contemplated using the photo. "This my album cover. This plastic surgeon Jan Adams. The person who performed my mom's final surgery," he wrote. "Do you have any title ideas...I want to forgive and stop hating." 'Ye's declaration could be in reference to the fact that at the time of Donda's passing, many believed the surgery contributed to her death. Kanye could have been harboring those same sentiments all these years.

The Blast has obtained the letter addressed from Adams to Kanye, and he strongly declines Yeezy's proposal. "I ask that you cease and desist using my photo or any image of me to promote your album or any of your work," he wrote toward the beginning of the letter.

While he commended 'Ye for wanting to "forgive and stop hating," he expressed, "with true love comes intellectual honesty."

He further stated his case that a coroner was unable to determine whether mistakes he made contributed to Donda's death and concluded Kanye's anger or ill will against him is misguided. “Perhaps you should put your cousin’s picture on your next album. Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love. Love deals with the truth,” he added, pointing to possible negligence on Kanye’s cousin Stephan Scoggins' part in the coroner's report. She was the primary caregiver following West's mom's surgery.

"Everyone can get past this but you have to be intellectually honest,” he added.

Kanye received Adams' notice loud and clear, as he reposted it on his Twitter page. It looks like he is willing to chop it up with the doctor. "This is amazing," Kanye captioned the letter. "Thank you so much for this connection brother. I can't wait to sit with you and start healing."
