The Dirty South and Bay Area connect on a new Lil Jon banger.

Today (June 11), the crunk legend pulls up with "Ain’t No Tellin’,” a new song featuring posthumous vocals from hyphy legend Mac Dre, who passed away in 2004. With some extra-ratchet bars from Jon and a funky hook and verse from Dre, the track combines the best elements of crunk with the bounce of the Bay Area.

"Ain't no tellin' what she did, she ain't say shit/I'm on that gas, got me higher than a spaceship," Lil Jon rhymes on the track.

From there, Dre delivers the hook. "Ain't no tellin', no tellin', no tellin' what a bitch'll do," he raps. He also unloads some hard bars about the life of a West Coast player. "I don't give a fuck about a nigga or bitch, too/I run with a big crew and yeah, they sick too."

"Ain't No Tellin'" represents a union between the Bay Area and the depths of the Dirty South. It also marks a notable accomplishment for Jon, who considers the late Bay Area rhymer to be a flat-out legend.

“For me, I put Mac Dre right up there with Biggie and ’Pac as legends who have since passed on,” Jon says.

According to Jon, he and his longtime producing partner Kronic created over 30 beats before choosing the one that would fit perfectly with Dre’s vocals. Ultimately, it came down to a beat he once produced for R&B icon Janet Jackson.

“I woke up one morning and remembered a beat I did for a Janet Jackson remix,” Jon explains. “She never used it. When I heard his vocals over the beat I was like ‘this is it!’ I think maybe God had me do that beat for Mac Dre the whole time…that was the reason Janet never used it.”

Jon had to go through a rigorous process to obtain the master recordings of Dre’s music. On top of that, the veteran crunk master received the blessings of Mac Dre’s mother, Mac Wanda, to release the song. For her part, she's happy about the end result of Dre's posthumous union with Lil Jon.

“I’m more than excited for this record to come out. I’m grateful to Lil Jon and emotional about it as well,” Ms. Wanda shares. “I’m a Lil Jon fan, and my son was a Lil Jon fan, so when he respectfully approached me about this idea there was no way I was going to say no to him.”

Ms. Wanda is appreciative of Lil Jon’s honoring Mac Dre's legacy with the song. “I truly believe Jon and I were meant to come together for this to happen…he’s properly honoring Dre, The Bay and certainly the sound,” she states. “I appreciate all the people that have reached out about honoring the legacy of my son—and those that have helped me through this—and to now have Jon bring his music back to Mac Dre fans and hopefully to some new young ones as well – it’s nothing but love!”

“I’m humbled beyond words that Mac Dre’s mother has entrusted me with this opportunity and access to master tapes," Jon says.
