My Kid Has Strange Tastes (For A Kid)

I remember being a kid and hating foods and drinks that I love now.

For instance, steak.  Sauerkraut.  Even the taste of coffee or an innocent taste of dad's beer (as he laughed at me spitting and gagging at the horrible taste).

Our son, Jacob, has had a really great month at school.  Mom promised him if his progress report was good we'd take him out for dinner to treat him for his good work.

Jacob's pick was Yen Ching Restaurant at 926 Main Street in downtown Dubuque.

While my wife and I both enjoy chinese food, we both raised our eyebrow at his choice.

Mom asked, "why do you want to go there?"

Jacob replied, "I like the mocha cake!"

That's right.  He doesn't care for their awesome egg rolls.  He's not impressed with the tasty snow peas and beef.  He likes their mocha cake!

For those of you that don't know, mocha is a coffee flavor.  Jacob likes a coffee flavored cake.

God bless Richard, the owner at Yen Ching.  He's a really nice guy.  So nice he brought us a plate of SIX pieces because he heard Jake liked it!

We had a really nice meal there.  I suggest you stop and try it.
