The governor has been in the national spotlight recently. She is slowly becoming a rising star in the Republican Party. In late February, the Governor delivered the Republican response to President Biden's State of the Union.

Now, she is getting even more national attention for a bill she has recently signed into law.

In February, Iowa House representatives passed a bill that requires student-athletes to compete in their desired sport under the gender assigned to them at birth, according to a report from KWWL.

It passed in the Iowa House with a count of 55 to 39.

The official political material entitled House File 2416 reads, "only female students, based on their sex may participate in any team, sport or athletic event designed as being for females, women, or girls."

On March 3rd, Reynolds signed the bill into law. This will immediately bar transgender women from competing in sports that correspond with their correct gender identity. It applies to all sports from the Kindergarten to university level sports, according to a report from USA Today.

Reynolds claims that this is more of a "fairness issue" than anything else. Her and other supporters believe that transgender women have an unfair advantage over cis-gender women.

Iowa is now the 10th state to pass legislation concerning this topic.

One Eastern Iowa school spoke out against Iowa lawmakers. The Iowa City Community School District reacted strongly to the news of this bill being passed in the Iowa House. In a statement on social media, officials said,
