Dubuque Bridal Shop Closes Temporarily Following Roof Fire
The roof of a bridal boutique in Dubuque caught fire over the weekend, and will remain temporarily closed.
Per KWWL, on Saturday, July 18th, the Dubuque Fire Department responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from the roof of 400 Bluff Street. Vintage Chic Bridal Boutique occupies the space directly below the apartments where the fire started.

Details on the Vintage Chic Fire:
Despite the shop being closed, Vintage Chic owner Shelby Duggan was inside the boutique at the time, and was informed of the fire when a passerby ran over to her in a panic. Duggan was able to get bridal dresses out of the store before they were damaged.
Most of the inventory survived, but some dresses will need to be cleaned or replaced due to smoke damage. KWWL reporter Hery Acosta caught up with Duggan following the fire:
We just came in [Saturday], to kind of go over everything, and none of the inventory is damaged I would say, but there is like slight yellowing on some of the dresses, so they're definitely gonna need to be washed if not replaced. But no internal fire damage, just smoke damage - Sarah Duggan, per KWWL
Duggan thanked the Dubuque Fire and Police Departments for their prompt response, workability, and support. The fire department reported that the cause of the fire was a lit cigarette. This could've been a real disaster on all fronts. You hate to see something like this impact a local business, but if it had to happen, this feels like best case scenario.
