With Episode 5, the first season of HBO’s Watchmen is half over. And it’s still unfolding all kinds of secrets and surprises. This episode gave us the backstory of Looking Glass, the new character played by Tim Blake Nelson. Still, while Looking Glass was invented for the Watchmen TV series, he has all kinds of connections to the original Watchmen graphic novel, like his reflective mask that changes as he moves, very much like the mask worn by Rorschach in the Watchmen comics. (He also enjoys beans straight out of the can just like Rorschach.)

The latest video by ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey breaks down all the Easter eggs, secrets, and comics references in Watchmen Episode 5. Not only does it tell you everything you need to know about Looking Glass, it also points out all the little secrets in his origin (check out all those mirrors! And how that connects to what Laurie Blake said in a previous episode!) and makes some bold predictions about where Watchmen will go next. Watch it here:
