Ever since the shocking murder of 2017 XXL Freshman XXXTentacion last week (June 18), his music has seen an enormous spike in sales. Now with his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 under his belt, reports show the late rhymer is the first solo artist posthumously to do so in 21 years.

XXXTentacion's "Sad!" track, off his Billboard 200 No. 1 album, ?, rose to the coveted position this week after originally peaking at No. 7 in March. According to Billboard, X and The Notorious B.I.G. are the last artists to top the chart after they passed away. After Biggie's tragic murder in 1997, the revered MC's tracks "Mo Money Mo Problems" and "Hypnotize" climbed to No. 1 as well. Sadly, both rappers saw the same demise, having been fatally shot over a decade apart. X was gunned down in Deerfield Beach, Fla. last Monday in what appears to be a robbery gone wrong.

The Beatles member John Lennon, folk singer Jim Croce, rock star Janis Joplin and singer Otis Redding have also hit the Billboard Hot 100 after their deaths. X earns the title of the eighth soloist to have topped the Hot 100 posthumously.

"Sad!" also broke Spotify's single-day streaming record, surpassing Taylor Swift's 10.1 million mark by over 300,000 streams the day he was killed. XXXTentacion's albums and 17 also saw over a collective 50,000 percent growth in digital sales on Amazon last week.

While the murder of X is still under investigation, fans and artists alike are preparing to pay their last respects to the influential 20-year-old artist. Tomorrow (June 27), the final public memorial for him will be held at the Florida Panther's Stadium, which will allow those touched by his death to see him during the open-casket viewing, his attorney, J. David Bogenschutz, confirmed. "Fans come out and say your final goodbyes. ... It will be your last chance to see him," the caption reads underneath the flyer, which was posted to his official Instagram account.
