I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. With the pandemic in full effect, I understand it was quite a bit different than we're used to.

Me, my wife and son laid low on Thanksgiving and celebrated with just the three of us. We told Jake since it was just us, we'd let him pick any meal he wanted to celebrate. He picked spaghetti and meatballs. I spent Thursday morning preparing them.

Friday, we opted to skip the madness of shopping and instead stayed home to put up our holiday decorations.

My wife, Lisa, likes to set things up on her terms. Usually I just wait for her to tell me to move a box and then she puts things the way she wants them. (I don't question it... she does a really nice job every year.)

After the tree is in place and the lights are strung, she calls me and Jacob over to help hang the ornaments. We have a lot of them we've collected over the years, so we spend a lot of time laughing about this ornament or telling a story about that ornament.

My favorites, though, are the ones that Jacob made at school. Popsicle sticks and a picture of him in the middle with a funny Santa beard painted on... they really are precious.

Lisa also sets up some of her other favorite decorations, like the holiday lanterns she's been making with her friend, Lee Ann.

Then she has to pretty up the rest of the room and hang the stockings over the fireplace.

Outside we don't go crazy... just a few strings of lights, six candy canes to line the driveway and a giant plastic Santa and Frosty to light up around the garage.

Even if there's no snow, there is nothing like putting up decorations to put you in the holiday spirit.

This year, we've teamed up with DuTrac Community Credit Union to "Light Up The Tristates." We want YOU to show us your holiday light displays. You can submit your photos via our Y105 mobile app or at our website HERE.
