I've been hosting the Afternoon Show on Y105 for more than seven years! I have a beautiful wife, Claudia, and adorable daughter, Lydia. I've lived in Dubuque for over a decade and I absolutely love this city! I host Hawkeye games at Lot One on Saturdays in the fall, 'The Dating Game' at Skinny Maginny's one Tuesday a month and can be found pushing a stroller on walks along South Grandview from time-to-time. I'm a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan (and Twins, Wild and Wolves), but truly appreciate having a fun conversation with the adversary (Bears, Packers fans).

Improve the Olive Oil in Your Kitchen
My Mom told me years ago that I had a taste for the finer things in life. I couldn't agree with her more. That's why I recommend the Log Cabin Steakhouse in Galena, IL to anyone when "places to eat" and "Tri-State area" are mentioned.
The Log Cabin is a Greek-style steakhouse owned and operated by the Rigopoulos family...
My Favorite Chips
While vacationing in Alpena, MI over the 4th of July weekend, I patronized a bar called Latitude. I noticed they had a unique variety of chips and one of them caught my eye: Block & Barrel's Sweet Maui Onion.
I love anything with onions, so I had to give it a try. Wh...
Trip to Michigan; The Drive/Ferry to Alpena
A week ago today, I set out on a 5-day trip to Northern Michigan with three friends (David, Lynn and Joe) and a dog (Indie who I kept incorrectly calling Sadie) in a 22-foot RV. Our first destination as we left Dubuque around 6:45 p.m. was Manitowoc, WI to board an overnight ferry and cross Lake Michigan...
My July Trip to Michigan; Part 1 of 4
Here's what makes the perfect trip: family, friends, relaxation, great food/drink and outstanding weather.
While my five-day trip did take me away from my daughter and wife much longer than I would've liked, it did provide the other four elements and added a private beach and relatively inexpensive getaway...
Where Does Independence Day Rank?
As another holiday approaches, I realized that I've never really ranked the six major holidays: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Independence Day, New Year's Eve/Day and Thanksgiving.
Here is my list:
Christmas – I grew up in a generous family who enjoyed giving gifts to one another, eating good food and drinking beverages that make you really feel that Xmas cheer

Check This Out
My wife, daughter and I were on a walk Saturday evening when we stumbled across this really unique and cool idea: a little free library (look at the picture and you'll notice I didn't get very creative labeling it) free-standing near someone's mailbox...
How Russ Ended Up in the Dumpster
Russ Bickle is the Traffic Manager at Townsquare Media; he's in charge of making sure all commercials get scheduled properly based on variables like what station, what days and between which times. It sounds like a detail-oriented job.
That's why I was surprised when one of our listeners contacted me and informed me that she'd been out at the station to pick up Rock Fest concert wristbands she won
This Month’s ‘Chop Talk’ with Ken Haugen
'Chop Talk' highlights a menu item at Houlihan's Dubuque. This month, it's SO CAL FISH TACOS! These are one of my two favorite items on the menu (stuffed chicken breast is the other) and feature chipotle mayo, panko-breaded tilapia, napa cabbage, honey cumin dressing, chips & house salsa.

THIS is Now My Favorite Pork Tenderloin Recipe
As I grill more and more this spring and summer thanks to my first year with a gas grill, I've come to one certain truth: tenderloins are the best meat you can throw on a grill.
Yes, they strongly resemble part of a male's anatomy, but they're TENDER cuts of meat that you can do so many different things with to make a succulent meal...
