I feel like The Wiggles are one of those entities you know of, even if you don't have children. The Wiggles were never a part of my childhood, but I'd be lying if I said that damn "Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy" song doesn't enter my mind at a few random moments in any given year.

So, when the opportunity arose to chat with Anthony Field, the longtime leader and longest-tenured member of The Wiggles, I bit. Field has been the mainstay of the group since its inception in 1991, and prior to that, he was part of the band, The Cockroaches, that made the eminently popular Australian children's band possible.

Field is now the only original member (the blue one) of the group, which has doubled in size since I last checked. I remember The Wiggles TV show, which had four men in brightly colored shirts signing and dancing. These days, Field is accompanied by Lachlan GillespieSimon PryceTsehay HawkinsEvie FerrisJohn PearceCaterina Mete and Lucia Field, all of whom presently gearing up for their global, 25-city Bouncing Balls Tour set to impact the US and Canada next summer!

Field is also in the process of launching a brand new podcast co-hosted by Gillespie (the Purple Wiggle) and Pryce (the Red Wiggle). The podcast is called Wiggle Talk: A Podcast for Parents, and will feature 30-minute episodes where the Wiggles will openly share their personal experiences and learnings as fathers, and also speak with several doctors and experts in the field.

In our conversation, Field noted there is no university new/expecting parents can attend in order to be the best parent possible. The best thing they can do is lean on other parents, and while the Wiggles don't pretend to be experts, they talk to many and have experiences with their own children they can share.

For example, while one episode deals with how to handle tantrums, another tackles grief, with special guest Terri Irwin, the widow of Steve Irwin. Other guests include Dr. Justin Coulson, Jocelyn Manzanarez, and Dr. Tovah Klein.

Named after their collaborative song/video with the Harlem Globetrotters, the Wiggles' Bouncing Balls Tour will be impacting North America in 2025. Field even mentioned the specific songs he loves performing live with his troupe, and expressed excitement about the North American leg of the tour.

Take a listen to my interview with Anthony Field below, and find out more about the Wiggles' upcoming tour and podcast, Wiggle Talk, on their website.
