The renowned Bill Blagg is bringing his show to the University of Dubuque's (UD) Heritage Center on January 13, 2023. The Magic of Bill Blagg Live! will show the Tri-States "the impossible" at 7:30pm. The show also marks the 10th anniversary series of live entertainment at UD Heritage Center.

Blagg is one of the most popular and beloved illusionists in the world. He's appeared on CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX, and was kind enough to chat with me about his origins and subsequently successful career as an illusionist:

I fell in love with magic at a very early age. I received a magic set from my grandparents for Christmas, and I started tinkering around with it [....] One of the first magic tricks I learned was how to make a quarter disappear [....] I learned it pretty quick. I ran back in the kitchen to show my dad and was like, 'watch.' He looked at me and was like, 'how did you do that?' When you're six-years-old and you [legitimately] fool your parents with something [....] that's power.

Just from our brief conversation, it's easy to see that Blagg has a casual sensibility and an amiable sense of humor. While his show isn't explicitly tailored for children, he reminded people that it is an all-ages show. It's perfect whether you're nine or 90.

Blagg talked about what to expect for those who have never seen him live, or simply have never been acquainted with his work.

The magic show itself is not necessarily designed for children. It is appropriate, there is nothing off-color or anything like that. But the magic in the show itself is designed for a sophisticated adult audience. It's designed to fool, amaze, and engage an adult patron, but at the same time, it's a great event for the kids. We're very excited to bring our unique blend of magic and illusion to the Heritage Center.

Tickets for The Magic of Bill Blagg Live! are still available on the Heritage Center's website. The show is this Friday, January 13th at 7:30pm, with pre-show set to begin at 6:30pm. Take a listen to my full interview with Bill Blagg below!
