A documentary one on of the titans of both the baseball and broadcasting world will be screened in Dubuque in October.

Last January, we lost Bob Uecker at the age of 90. A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Milwaukee Brewers play-by-play announcer for 54 years, his legacy is an indelible. Even non-sports fan might recall his cameos peppered in the Major League movies. A documentary, appropriately titled Ueck, has been making the rounds in theaters and at different festivals, and it will be shown at the Five Flags Center in October.

Ueck Will Be Screening at the Five Flags Center:

On October 22nd, the eve of the start of the World Series (which might feature the Milwaukee Brewers for all we know), Ueck will be screened at the Five Flags Theater. The 94-minute documentary will feature archival footage of the ballplayer-turned-Brewers-announcer, as well as commentary from baseball luminaries, such as fellow broadcaster Bob Costas, former MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, and baseball lifer Joe Torre:

Filmed over the final three years of his life with remarkable access, this intimate documentary captures Uecker as he reflects on the improbable journey that carried him from the dugouts of Major League Baseball to late-night television, Hollywood, and the broadcast booth of the Milwaukee Brewers - where his voice became synonymous with summer for fans across the Midwest - per the Five Flags Center's website

The ongoing Milwaukee Brewers season marks the first time in 54 seasons that Uecker wasn't on the call for the team. He was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer in 2023. He passed away at his home in Menomonee Falls, WI on January 16th, 2025.

Tickets to Ueck at the Five Flags Center on October 22nd are $12.50/each and $7.50 for those 18 and under. Doors open at 6pm with the film to begin at 7pm. You can purchase tickets on the Five Flags Center's website as well as their box office on Locust Street. Find out more about the new documentary Ueck on the film's official website.
