Bloktoberfest Returns to Dubuque to Bring Fun for the Family
Just in time to kick off the fall season, Bloktoberfest returns to Dubuque to bring a full afternoon of fun and excitement with dozens of events, games, food offerings, and more.
Bloktoberfest is happening in the Historic Millwork District on Saturday, September 9th. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the OAS Foundation, the Crocus Foundation, and other Dubuque area non-profits.
On top of being an all ages event, this event is completely free to attend. There will be multiple attractions, including BMX and skateboarding competitions, as well as delicious food available from the great folks at Birds. Chicken and 7 Hills Brewing Company.
Jason Henkel of Olliewood Action Sports and BMX rider/photographer Spenser Lee stopped by the studio to talk about all things Bloktoberfest. The mission of the event is to get kids off the smartphones, out of the house, and back on their bikes and in the community. The Dupaco Kids Zone is doing its part to assure kids are supplied with fun activities during the event to get them moving.
Meanwhile, adults can get their fix of fun at the Townsquare Media Stage where Beer Yoga, Tug-of-War, Fire Dancers, Stein Races, a dance exhibition by Adams Dance Connection, the Bloktoberfest Dunk Tank, and more will be happening.
Henkel made sure to note that the Olliewood Skatepark Area is back at the event too. It will be the site of the Battle at Bloktoberfest skate along with other BMX contests.
All things Bloktoberfest can be found on their official website as well as their Facebook page. I will be broadcasting live at the event for both Y105 and 103.3 WJOD, helping kick things off at 11am. My broadcast will go until 2pm.
