After being one of the most anticipated episodes of the long-running series, the new episode of David Letterman's talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction featuring Iowa basketball legend and current Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark dropped on Netflix this week.

The episode might be an unexpected treat for fans who aren't prepared to see how personal, contemplative, and self-reflective Clark gets in front of one of the greatest talk show hosts of all-time. For a moment, just consider how special this is: two titans of their industries, one not even in their prime yet, the other continuing his decades of glory by finding ways to get the best out of his guests, on a platform that's more free and less constraining than broadcast TV.

Letterman and Clark has a wonderful back-and-forth about topics ranging from sports psychology to Clark's time at Iowa and her rookie year in the WNBA. Here are some select highlights from the episode:

Clark and Letterman Show Off Their Shot-Taking Abilities:

At one point in the episode, Clark and Letterman take turns shooting grapes into a pitcher of water. Predictably, Clark schools him, despite the unconventional tools at her disposal. This on top of Letterman's trash-talk. Don't worry, Clark dishes it back, sure to double-down when he "bricks" or "airballs" a grape in an attempt to land it in the pitcher.

Clark Talks About Her Brothers' Influence:

Caitlin Clark has never shied away from talking about what tremendous influence her two brothers have had on her as a person and a professional. Clark tells Letterman what life was like growing up in Des Moines. At three-years-old, she learned to ride a bike simply from watching her older brother do it:

Even Letterman makes mention of how such a small little childhood detail shows how competitive Clark was from a very young age:

That encapsulates what I know of you as a human being. It's that competitive drive that overrides every little daily occurrence - David Letterman, per My Next Guest Needs No Introduction

Caitlin Clark Puts Up 22 Points in Two Minutes:

At one point, David Letterman can't resist the urge to bring up the famous story of Caitlin Clark dropping 22 points in about two minutes during an Iowa scrimmage game against volunteer students. Sidenote: someone needs to interview some of those volunteer students and ask what the hell they were thinking.

Clark recalls to Letterman her team being down 15. A couple three-points cut the lead down to about 9, and then Clark had 22 points in two minutes. That sounds like the start of the modern-day equivalent to Wilt Chamberlain having 100 points in an NBA game. Clark added that the men on the volunteer squad "didn't hear the end of it."

Clark Looking to Run it Back in Her Second Season in the WNBA:

Clark is coming off an amazing rookie season with the Indiana Fever. She helped guide the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2015, and earned WNBA All-Star and Rookie of the Year honors en route to the feat. Also recently, limited edition Caitlin Clark basketballs were available at Hy-Vee. Some might still be, if you take a look!

Speaking of Hy-Vee and David Letterman, a couple years ago, the talk show legend David Letterman was in Des Moines, IA for the Hy-Vee IndyCar Race at Iowa Speedway.

Letterman made a pitstop at the Hy-Vee in Grimes where he was "hired" as a grocery clerk and bagger. He hung out at the supermarket for over an hour, stocking shelves, cleaning up messes, bagging groceries, and getting shoppers' attention by claiming that celery was free for the entire day.
