A Solon, IA native found himself on a new team last week after spending the majority of the season refining his craft on the practice squad for the team that drafted him.
I'll catch you up. Iowa native quarterback Cam Miller was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft in April. Since then, he's spent the majority of his rookie season on the Raiders' practice squad, even as the team proved to be the worst in the league, lumbering to a 3-14 season and the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Cam Miller Trade Silver and Black for Aqua and Orange:
Last week, Cam Miller was poached by the Miami Dolphins. Being on an NFL practice squad leaves you liable to being plucked and signed by another team during respective signing windows. Such is what happened to Miller, who was drafted with the endorsement of Raiders' minority owner Tom Brady.
About Cam Miller:
Cam Miller spent his entire collegiate career (five seasons) with the North Dakota State Bison. During his time at North Dakota State, Miller led the Bison to two FCS National Championship victories (2021 and 2024), and was named MVP for his performance in the 2024 Championship game. In his career as a Bison, he threw for just under 10,000 yards, 81 touchdowns, and had a win-loss record of 45-11.
He is one of several signal callers to be drafted over the last eight years. Carson Wentz (2017), Easton Stick (2019), and Trey Lance (2021) are the others.

What is Cam Miller's Future with the Dolphins?:
Miller could have the opportunity to compete for the Miami Dolphins' starting quarterback job, with the future of former starter Tua Tagovailoa very much in question heading into the offseason. However, ahead of him on the depth chart is rookie Quinn Ewers, who played well in games following Tagovailoa's benching, and former second overall draft pick Zach Wilson.
