When it comes to supporting local non-profits, there might not be an easier and more impactful program than Kwik Care.

If you're not aware, Kwik Care has helped raise both funds and awareness for local nonprofits. Each month, Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen help collect donations for a different organization. Donations can be made easily by requesting your total purchase at any of those businesses (including at the gas pumps at Kwik Stop) be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The additional cents used to round up will be donated to the respective charity of the month.

November's Kwik Care recipient is Community Solutions of Eastern Iowa (CSE Iowa), an organization geared to helping individuals prevent, survive, and exit homelessness. This choice of organization is germane to the month of November, as it's Homelessness Awareness Month. CSE Iowa helps people who are living outside, as well as those who are transitioning from the street into a home of their own.

In addition to Heather Hamm of Kwik Stop/Rainbo Oil, Jennifer of CSE Iowa stopped in to talk about the comprehensive nature of the organization's pursuits. A quick look at their website shows some of the items they collect to help individuals in need, including:

  • Adult Insulated Gloves
  • Backpacks
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Full-size Hygiene Items
  • Insulated Sleeping Bags
  • Tarps & Tents
