Barstool Founder Backs Iowa After Feeling ‘Disrespected’ by Iowa State
The annual football matchup between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones is set to commence this Saturday, September 6th, and excitement is palpable. The beloved CyHawk matchup is one of the singularly most enthralling games both Hawkeye and Cyclones fans look forward to.
It's also the matchup that has ruffled the feathers of Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, an already ubiquitous presence who recently inked a deal with Fox Sports to be a part of their Big Noon Kickoff program. The crew, including Portnoy, is headed to Ames, but after feeling "disrespect" from Iowa State, "El Presidente" himself is backing the Hawkeyes.
Portnoy took a shot at the Iowa State Cyclones on Twitter when the team's account posted a Big Noon Kickoff graphic that showed every analyst, including former NFL quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart, as well as former college football coach Urban Meyer, but not him. Portnoy wasn't pleased, retweeting the image saying: "Guess I'm taking the Hawkeyes with this disrespect."
The Iowa State Cyclones clapped back by posting an old, grainy photo of Portnoy and simply said, "Didn't want any photoshop issues again... See you Saturday."
Portnoy has long been a fan of Caitlin Clark, so much so that he's shown up at Iowa Hawkeye women's basketball and Indiana Fever games alike.
The Iowa Hawkeyes understood the assignment, however, and used a Big Noon Kickoff graphic with Portnoy sporting a Caitlin Clark jersey. Portnoy voiced his approval of the team's post on his Twitter.
Portnoy has proudly worn his badge as an unapologetic troll for years. Even last week, during his first Big Noon Kickoff appearance, he sung "The Victors" (Michigan's fight song) while walking past a hoard of Ohio State Buckeyes before the team defeated Texas, 14-7.

Portnoy and the "Barstool College Football Show" team will be in Ames at 8am, broadcasting live from Reiman Plaza between lots S2 and S3, per Hawkeyes Wire. From there, Portnoy will join Fox's Big Noon Kickoff crew.
