“Dubuque’s Next Great Beer Festival” is Happening This Saturday (10/22)
Fall is in the air, spooky season is nigh, and seasonal activities such as Halloween parades and festivities are all underway. Five Flags Center is hopping on-board with the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF) in order to capitalize on the return of a beer festival to the Dubuque area!
Five Flags Center's Jesse Gavin stopped by the studio to discuss "The Tappening," which he billed as "Dubuque's next great beer festival." Featuring nearly two dozen local-area breweries, The Tappening kicks off this Saturday, October 22nd, at Five Flags from 1-4pm with tickets on sale now!
The Tappening takes place in conjunction with JDIFF's "Boos & Brews" weekend of Halloween fun. From 1 to 4pm on Saturday, eventgoers will be able to sip some delicious local beers, take part in a cornhole tournament, watch college football, and more. General Admission tickets to the event are $40 (complete with a festival glass) while VIP gets you in an hour early and will run you $50/ticket.
The activities at The Tappening are plentiful. Gavin noted that pickleball tournaments will also be held:
We got pickleball tournaments [and] we'll set up some courts inside. That's a very fast-growing activity/sport, so if you've never tried your hand at it [....] you can try it. What better time for physical activity than after a few beers?
Joie Wails will be performing as well, complementing libations served from Backpocket Brewing, Dimensional, Exile, Potosi, Textile, and several more.
