Over the long Memorial Day weekend, the downtown district of a small, Mississippi River town was hopping in the midst of its own memorial of a local legend who rose to prominence on one of History Channel's most successful TV series. That memorial was commemorated with the opening of a brand new shop.

The event was in memorial of Frank Fritz, the former star of American Pickers, who passed away in October 2024 after a myriad of health issues following a stroke. In Savanna, IL, friends and fans of Fritz gathered to honor his legacy with the opening of a new shop known as Frank Fritz Man Cave.

Fritz is remembered across Illinois and Iowa. A Davenport, IA native, he worked with American Pickers co-star Mike Wolfe at Antique Archaeology in Le Claire, IA for many years, and operated Frank Fritz Finds in Savanna, IL prior to his death.

Frank Fritz Man Cave is located just a few doors down from where "Finds" is, at 330 Main Street, inside Hawgdogs bar. Man Cave features antiques, a bar, and a movie theater which plays some of Fritz's favorite episodes of the History Channel TV series, per KWQC.

A legal battle over Fritz's will delayed any kind of official celebration of life in lieu of his passing. The opening of Frank Fritz Man Cave was the first time friends and fans of the star could gather and pay their respects to someone who left an indelible mark on their lives:

To be able to swap stories and know a different side of Frank from kindergarten all the way up to when he passed away. We’re here for a joyful event. We love, we all loved Frank, and we’re here to talk in a positive manner and enjoy his memories - Annette Oberlander, a longtime friend of Fritz, per KWQC

Per KWQC, the aforementioned shop Frank Fritz Finds, which is brimful of treasures and collectibles Fritz cherished over the years, will remain open in conjunction with Man Cave. There is speculation that one day the shop will convert to a full-blown museum in memoriam of Fritz. Read more on KWQC's website.
