The weather in the Tri-States might not accurately reflect it, but Halloween is rapidly approaching. We're a little more than a week out from the spookiest day of the year, and excitement for Trick-or-Treating and all the staple Halloween events remains palpable thanks to the abundance of decorations all around the area.

The City of Dubuque is once again hard at work in assuring kids in the area have ample options for their spooky festivities. Recently, the city composed a list of some upcoming Halloween-centric events for children to participate in that will be held leading up to October 31st!

Grim & Groovy Halloween Cooking (October 24):

There's also a "grim and groovy" Halloween cooking class taking place later this week! Kids and their parents can satisfy their sweet tooth at the Allison-Henderson Center on October 24th from 5:30 - 7:30pm. This Halloween cooking class is for kids ages 9-12, and revolves around them conjuring up delicious and pleasantly scary little treats to practice baking ahead of their Halloween festivities.

You can register online or over the phone by calling 563-589-4263.

Slime Scientists (November 5th):

Despite taking place after Halloween, the Slime Scientists event would be a cute one if your child is still feeling the spooky urge. This slime-centric class will help foster the love of science in your kids by teaching them the wonders of chemistry. It's happening at the Allison-Henderson Center on Tuesday, November 5th from 5:30-7:30pm. It's a drop-off class too.

You can register online or by calling 563-589-4263.

BONUS: The Asbury Halloween Parade (October 25th):

As a bonus, I'll include details about the annual Asbury Halloween Parade. It's happening Friday, October 25th at 7pm, with the parade route starting at the Lord of Life Church on the corner of Springreen Drive and Hales Mill Road before ending in Asbury Park. Heed this new wrinkle, however, from the City of Asbury:

Parking will NOT be allowed in the park that night.  You can park at Dupaco, Eagles Club, Tri-State Christian School, Carver and Roosevelt Schools and Asbury City Hall.  City Hall is recommended for people to pick up your children after the parade. - per the City of Asbury's website
