Galena Brewfest Promises Great Beers and Fun Times with Friends

It's no secret that beer brings the community together. That's exactly the idea behind an annual event in the Tri-States that always manages to marry great people, fun conversation, and delicious brews.

The 2023 Galena Brewfest is happening on Saturday, July 22nd from 1-4pm at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, IL. The two men behind it, Dave Decker and John Rosenthal, were kind enough to stop by the studio and talk all about the events in store for the upcoming weekend, which is sure to be bolstered by the summer tourist crowd that comes through Galena each and every season.

John was sure to note the many breweries that will be serving and mingling with those who come out to Chestnut Mountain for the event:

We tried to get as many local breweries as possible [....] we got Galena Brewing, Lena, Potosi, 7 Hills, some from the Quad Cities, Front Street, Bent River [....] we got local wineries [including] Massbach [....] Blaum Brothers [....] and a bunch of other ones we're bringing in from our distributors.

Many of those names should be familiar to Iowans and Illinoisans alike as they are some of the top names in the region. Dave also talked about how the time of the event was crucial, so as not to get in the way of any plans people might have when visiting/vacationing in Galena:

If people wanna do Galena Main Street, knock yourselves out. You got all morning. You want to do lunch, you want to do supper, we're not getting in the way of any of that [with the event taking place from 1-4pm]. We're outside in the tent. I know you're going to have a place to park [due to the] offseason for the ski season, so parking is ample.

Tickets for the 2023 Galena Brewfest can be purchased on the Galena ARC's website ahead of the event for $40. In effort to make the event accessible for all, tickets can also be purchased at the door too. Each ticket includes a wristband, a glass, and 30 sampling tickets.
