Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin Theater Chain Offering ‘BYOBucket’ Promotion for Popcorn

Popcorn is an indispensable staple at movie theaters, and it's one of life's greatest comfort foods by any stretch of the imagination. Even as I find myself going to the movie theater 2-4 times a week, I more-often-than-not fill up my refillable AMC popcorn bucket at least once on any given week. Then I get another refill before I leave so I have popcorn at home.

I'm exactly the kind of person this upcoming promotion from a different movie theater is targeting. In effort to celebrate National Popcorn Day later this month, a theater chain is offering a can't-miss promotion for popcorn and movie lovers alike.

On Sunday, January 19th, Cinemark will be running their first-ever "Bring Your Own Bucket" (BYO-Bucket) promotion to celebrate National Popcorn Day. Theatergoers are encouraged to bring their own personal bucket to be filled with popcorn for just $5. There are only two stipulations when it comes to the bucket itself:

• The bucket must be clean
• The bucket must not exceed 400 ounces (the equivalent of two XL-sized popcorn containers)

For a visual reference, your bucket, or "vessel," as Business Wire humorously refers to it, cannot exceed this size.

Cinemark's crafty "BYO-Bucket" promotion allows for movie lovers to bring a snack bowl, a film-specific collectible bucket, or even a homemade bucket to the theater to have it filled to the brim with popcorn. At only $5, it's a hell of a deal.

You might be asking: what movies will be out on January 19th? For starters, Nosferatu is one of the best movies playing at all/most multiplexes at this time. It's a terrifying remake of the 1922 silent film. By that point, another horror movie, Wolf Man, will be in theaters too!

If horror isn't your bag, there's also Sonic the Hedgehog 3, A Complete Unknown (the Bob Dylan biopic), the buzzy, erotic romance Babygirl, which is generating early Oscar buzz, and of course, Wicked, if seeing it once, twice, or four times wasn't enough for you!
