Great news if you love Costco but hate its online ordering process. That's because Costco is now rolling out a new way to purchase items that previously required in-store visits.

Costco Rolling Out a New Online Ordering System for Cakes and Deli Trays

While it will take a minute for it to arrive at every store, including the Machesney Park Costco location, what used to require back-and-forth to order a cake or deli tray is now more streamlined.

Customers biggeest complaints are about the "clunky" ordering process, the exact opposite of what the main competitor, Sam's Club, is apparently known for. This is a step toward Costco addressing the issue and streamlining its digital and brick-and-mortar operations.

Customers Called the Old Costco Ordering Process “Clunky”

With 800-plus locations worldwide, and 600-plus in the United States, it's fair to expect some issues at the launch of this new approach to online ordering, but this addition to the Costco app, where customers can select cake details, which include the shape, should far and away outperform the old paper method Costco currently uses.

Costco CEO Ron Vachris shared the great news for customers and said the move is based on customer feedback. You have to love it when a company listens and responds positively to what its customers want, rather than the opposite, which seems to happen more often than not in 2026.
