Why Is It So Affordable to Live Here?

First things first, Iowa's cost of living is one of the lowest in the nation.

The Hawkeye State was named one of the best states (and affordable) places to retire to.

And in a recent study by CreditDonkey, they accessed all fifty states and ranked them on nine factors: average salary, annual utility bills, annual medical costs, food and beverage expenditure, car insurance costs, house prices and tax rates, crime rates, population over 65, and average temperature.

Iowa has average home prices lower than the national average, but taxes can sometimes be pretty high, according to reports.

Which Iowa Town Is the Most Affordable in the Nation?

This conclusion is based off of several key factors including costs of goods and services, real estate prices, and how the cost of living compares to the area’s median household income.

So, according to U.S. News & World Report, one of the best affordable places to live in the United States is the Quad Cities! The median price of a home in this Iowa city is approximately $149,317.

In addition, the average annual salary for someone working in this area is about $51,240, and there is only a 8.4% unemployment rate here!

While this spans multiple cities and states, we are going to give Iowa the credit for this one.
