March’s Kwik Care Recipient Supports Youth Development in Dubuque, Tri-States
When it comes to supporting local non-profits, there might not be an easier and more impactful program than Kwik Care.
If you're not aware, Kwik Care has helped raise both funds and awareness for local nonprofits. Each month, Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen help collect donations for a different organization. Donations can be made easily by requesting your total purchase at any of those businesses (including at the gas pumps at Kwik Stop) be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The additional cents used to round up will be donated to the respective charity of the month.
This month's Kwik Care recipient is the Two By Two Character Development, located in Kennedy Circle in Dubuque. Two By Two is a nonprofit organization "dedicated to creating a kinder world for people, animals, and the environment through engaging social-emotional learning programming," per their website.
Heather Hamm of Kwik Stop/Rainbo Oil and Kristin Woodward-Vaassen of Two By Two Character Development stopped by the studio to talk all things Two By Two. Kristin and I have worked together in the past, most notably at an event in October that saw "Two By Two Day" take place at Big Apple Bagels in Dubuque!
Two By Two has been around since [...] 2005, so almost 20 years. We've been in the schools teaching about kindness, respect, responsibility, empathy, all those great core values we want to see in our kiddos. But the important thing, and the fun exciting thing is we do it through the love of animals, and that just captures the hearts of kids. They learn all these core values, apply them to people, and it sticks. - Kristin Woodward-Vaassen of Two By Two Character Development
Kristin elaborated on the stuffed animals that are distributed to kids around the area via Two By Two's "Kindhearted Kids" program. Funds raised via the Kwik Care program will directly help the Kindhearted Kids program continue in schools around the Tri-States.
