Las Margarrita’s in Dubuque Celebrates Cinco with True Mexican Hospitality
Having opened last summer, Las Margarrita's in Dubuque wanted to celebrate their first Cinco de Mayo with a bang. And that's exactly what they did this week. The house was packed, drinks and tequila shots were flowing, and the food was delicious as faces familiar and new stopped by one of the newest spots for Mexican cuisine in Dubuque.
Underscoring Las Margarrita's, located on Main Street in Dubuque, is the hospitality. The restaurant is owned by Christian Hernandez, and him and his staff kept busy all day on Monday, serving guests with big smiles.

Hernandez was kind enough to let me broadcast live on Y105 for the occasion. I, along with several of my coworkers from the radio station, took in the sights and delicious eats over the course of a fun, camaraderie-filled afternoon.
Christian Hernandez is the Epitome of the American Dream:
When Las Margarrita's opened last summer, Telegraph Herald ran a profile on the restaurant's owner, Christian Hernandez, who you could say is the epitome of the American Dream. Hernandez immigrated to Dubuque from Guatemala 17 years ago in order to be closer to his family. He started as a dishwasher at Salsa's, located on Main Street in Dubuque. He worked his way up the hierarchy, eventually becoming a manager.
Las Margarrita's menu is made up of recipes curated by him, his mom, Martha Hernandez, and his sisters, Cindy and Gloria Hernandez. The restaurant is not a carbon-copy of Salsa's either. At the time, Hernandez revealed that his establishment will be predicated on made-from-scratch meals to give a homecooked feel to his entrees coupled with freshly made margaritas. He's lived up to that promise.
What You Can Expect from Las Margarrita's:
Las Margarrita's strikes a familiar balance between a bar and restaurant. There's plenty of space and seating, and the menu itself is chockful of favorites.
The eatery's colorful menu flaunts a variety of made-from-scratch burritos and fajitas, along with chimichangas, taquitos, huevos con chorizo, a la carte options, and more. Plus, of course, per their name, a large assortment of margaritas both frozen and on the rocks.
