Peosta Man to Be Featured on Upcoming Episode of ‘Iowa Life’ on PBS
If you haven't checked out the wealth of programming on Iowa PBS, you're missing out.
Just last year, Iowa PBS announced a new show called Road Trip Iowa, which would explore a wide variety of hidden gems all across the Hawkeye State. The crew even traveled to Dubuque to spend time at the Mines of Spain in an episode dedicated to Dubuque.
Now, a Dubuque County man will be featured on the public television show Iowa Life. The man is Pete Caspers of Peosta, IA, who will be one of four individuals profiled in an episode of the long-running Iowa PBS series dedicated to pumpkin growers in the state.
Caspers is one of four to be profiled in the episode, alongside Dave Davis (Bloomfield); Greg Norlin (Anamosa); and Rusty Caspers (Anamosa), who is also Pete's father.

Pete Caspers achieved an enviable feat for pumpkin growers last year when he finished first in the 2024 Ryan Norlin GIANT Pumpkin Weigh-Off at the Anamosa Pumpkin Festival. Caspers' pumpkin weight an astonishing 1,933-pounds while a pumpkin grown by his father, Rusty, came in third place, weight 1,348-pounds.
Little is known about the episode at this time, but it's expected to cover how pumpkin farmers grow, maintain, care for, and treat their prized pumpkins ahead of entering them in various competitions.
Per Telegraph Herald, the episode will premiere at 6:30pm on Saturday, April 8th, and will air again at 10:30am on Thursday, April 13th. Like most episodes of Iowa Life, it'll likely be uploaded to the show's YouTube channel after its initial airing for on-demand viewing too.
