A Popular Thai Spot in Dubuque Has Closed

It's the unfortunate end of the line for a popular Thai restaurant on Dubuque's East 22nd Street. In addition, it's the third business closure in Dubuque this week alone, making 2026 a grim start to a lot of local hotspots, namely bars/restaurants, in what has become a tumultuous economy.

Last month, Pete's Thai Kitchen on Dubuque's northside announced that their last day of operation was Sunday, January 25th. The post, signed by Lindsey, expressed gratitude and joy at the thousands of people who helped make her eatery a success for eight years in Dubuque.

Pete's Thai Kitchen celebrated their final day of operation on Sunday, January 25th, closing the doors for good at 8pm that evening. On the restaurant's Facebook page, Lindsey reflected on harboring a dream to start her own food truck at 29-years-old. When it came to fruition, she found herself as the first manager at Pete's:

8 years ago was just a 29 year old server with a DREAM to start my own food truck. I bought my truck and one month later I was thrown into Pete’s as the first manager. I learned to love Thai food. I knew nothing about it. 2 years later, with my parents help, I became an owner. The variety of guests, incredible chefs, wonderful employees, joyous moments, and the amazing food, is what has kept me here, and Pete’s Thai, alive for so long. This week alone, 1st & Main in Dubuque announced it would be closing in the near future, with the nearby restaurant The Hub set to close up shop in April. Pete's Thai Kitchen has unfortunately been added to the list of closures.
