Just over two weeks since Post Malone first teased his new song, “Sunflower,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and three days after revealing it’s actually a joint track with Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee, the melodic offering has now officially been released (Oct. 18).

The track, which was accompanied by an animated clip, is set to appear on the soundtrack for Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film. The motion picture and the official soundtrack, which also features Vince Staples in its trailer, is slated for a Dec. 14 release, when the film opens in theaters nationwide.

Post Malone and Swae Lee’s collaboration doubles as the soundtrack’s first single and marks their first time reuniting since the 2017 Beerbongs & Bentleys cut, “Spoil My Night.”

During the vibrant animated clip, the main character, played by Miles Morales, takes viewers through a day in the life as a regular kid, going on to reveal his secret, at times confusing, identity as Spider-Man. The song follows themes of heartbreak, hardship and perseverance, helping bring the coming-to-age story to life.

“Post and Swae have delivered a song that’s both heroic and emotional, which is exactly what a Spider-Man story needs,” Spring Aspers, Head of Music, Creative Affairs Worldwide for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, shared in a statement. “It’s anthemic, but also heartfelt -- the perfect soundtrack for Miles to discover the Spider-Man inside himself.”
